Misschien klust de Paashaas wel bij als Mol, weten we ook gelijk waar het woord Beunhaas vandaan komt. Jezus in chocolade, nu voor 245 euro… En, stel dat Jezus wel als life-size chocoladepop beschikbaar zou zijn en je honger hebt, begin je dan met zijn baard of met zijn tenen? Het zal geen openbaring zijn als ik zou zeggen dat Pasen een vervelend overdreven commercieel verschijnsel is, bijna net zo erg als Valentijnsdag, maar dat is weer een heel ander verhaal. Jezus als life-size chocolade pop wordt daarbij een behoorlijk duur geintje met de huidige cacaoprijzen. Pasen heeft de takken gestolen van Kerst, Kerst heeft nu geen takken meer… Nee, dan is de Paashaas een veel betere keuze dan Jezus, hij is lief, klein, pluizig en je kunt hem verkopen in chocoladevorm. Paastakken? Ja, takken, want die horen opeens ook bij Pasen, vraag mij niet waarom. Op zijn slippers zitten fluffy kuikentjes geniet en om hem heen staan er allerlei Paastakken. In zijn baard heeft hij paaseitjes verstopt. Voor de gelegenheid heeft Jezus een geel gewaad aangetrokken want, het is immers Pasen. Ik zie hem al staan, in de Hoofdstraat in Hippo, bij de Etos in de etalage. Om Jezus nu met een mand met eieren op zijn rug in de etalage te zetten, dat ziet er toch ook niet uit. De Paashaas heeft in de verste verte niets met Pasen te maken, tenminste niet vanuit de geschiedenis en achtergrond van het feest.Ĭommercieel gezien is de Paashaas natuurlijk een prima karakter, veel beter dan Jezus, die eigenlijk centraal staat bij Pasen.
